Coho Restaurant

3.03.2012 | 0 Comments

Coho Restaurant in Friday Harbor is the third website Anna Maria de Freitas and I have developed together. The website is testament to her attention to detail as is the high quality cuisine at the restaurant. The professional photography really makes this site shine. You can check out the companion websites at Tucker House and Harrison House. An aside, my family used to live in the house that has become Coho Restaurant, I was 15 years old. They’ve since moved the house maybe 50 feet closer to the road, it’s got island history in it. Warning: don’t look at this website if you’re hungry…

Foundation for Water & Energy Education

FWEE is a foundation committed to providing balanced information regarding the use of water as a renewable energy resource in the Northwest. This is a large website that Dunau & Associates invited me to collaborate with them in the upgrading and updating — the original site was launched in 1996 when the web was young. Originally created by Darryl Caldwell, kudos for the clean code that kept it high in search engine rank all these years. And credit to founder Andy Dunau for inception and rich content that helped keep it there all this time. Here’s to many more years of interactive information about the value of hydropower as a renewable energy source.

San Juan Island Community Foundation

This is a redesign/refeature of a static website I originally designed & coded in 2007. The San Juan Island Community Foundation has amped up the dynamic qualities of their site to makeĀ  it easier for people who care to connect with causes that matter. New features include the ability for SJICF staff to manage the website themselves, donors to keep track of their funds, and nonprofits to add new projects as well as PayPal donate now for instantaneous giving.

Cat Bordhi

Cat Bordhi is a highly revered knitting mentor, and since 2005 has been leading Visionary Retreats, mentoring other knit designers and fiber artists dedicated to artisan publishing spirited books of unique and enduring value. She has authored many books and has quite a following of groupies. She designed this site herself and I didn’t change a thing… minimalism isn’t something that comes naturally to people with add like myself. I love the clean look of this site that showcases the knitting and nothing more.

Cotsen Foundation for The Art of Teaching

10.21.2011 | 0 Comments

Dunau & Associates contracted me to redesign www.cotsen.org, a revamp of a site we design some years ago originally. New technology was added, as well as the ability for various people in the foundation to manage the users and content themselves. This site was certainly challenging as part of it is wrapped in WordPress, the other part in Joomla and they’re playing nicely together. Various staff, teachers, mentors, alumni and fellows all use the website as an online hub for logging, tracking, communicating and collaborating to keep focused on their objectives. Lloyd Cotsen founded the Cotsen Foundation for the ART of TEACHING in 2001 with the idea that a strong, collaborative partnership between a mentor and a teacher would promote artful teaching.

Dollars for Scholars San Juan Island

10.21.2011 | 0 Comments

Dollars for Scholars wanted a website that would allow students to receive messages from counselors and staff, and get quick and up-to-date access to community organization’s opportunities for volunteering. On this site community orgs can log in and post their opportunities on the public calendar and board members and counselors can help scholars keep on task to earn scholarships. A challenging task, I was able to research and try out many different plugins to achieve various access levels and functions needed for the job.

It was a pleasure working with the smart and talented Anna Maria de Freitas on the Tucker House Inn website, Harrison House Suites site to follow. I am looking forward to visiting the Tucker House this summer to partake in some of the incredible breakfasts in the photos I put up on the site.

Outdoor Odysseys

I can’t wait to go to the Island this summer kayak! Clark was awesome to work with on what ended up being a huge website, and working with Josh on the seo helped us bonk him up in Google results immediately after launch.

Gold Crown Timeshares

Roger wanted a website he could update himself, and add new properties as he listed them. We found a plugin for this WordPress website giving it a lightweight search function as well — I’m keeping an eye on this plugin in it’s evolution as it has potential for a useful addition to a real estate website.

PeaceHealth Peace Island Medical Center

I got to work with a bunch of really good community-minded folks on this project, which at the time of this posting is looking forward to groundbreaking this summer on the new property made possible by a grant from the San Juan Island Community Foundation. This was an interim website bridging the time between the Hospital Committee rallying support, funds and concepts to the future PeaceHealth Peace Island Medical Center plan.
